About Dr Em

Welcome,

If you are struggling, you want to feel better. Of course you do. Yet it can be difficult to know where to start, especially when you have little energy to give. Reaching out for support takes courage, just considering therapy is a meaningful step.

Progress does not require giant leaps. Small steps in a meaningful direction creates momentum, and momentum is what leads to lasting change. Everyone is different, so therapy offers a space to think together about what a better life would look like for YOU.

  • What really matters to you?
  • What direction do you want your life to go in?
  • Who is important in your life?
  • What is getting in the way of you putting energy into these things?
  • What helps?
  • What makes things worse?

These are difficult questions, and you do not have to navigate them alone. My approach helps people to turn good intentions into meaningful actions, building a better life one step at a time.

What struggles does Dr Em Support with?

I believe the most important part of therapy is identifying your personal goals, to clarify what meaningful change would look like for you. So, whatever you’re struggling with therapy is always bespoke – never a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

With regards to particular struggles, some people find diagnostic labels useful and some do not. To support clients in making an informed choice, I will outline some areas where I have particular experience.

I support many neurodivergent people including those with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Tourette’s Syndrome and sensory processing disorders. I am a neuro-spicy person myself, thriving with ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Irlen Syndrome. This means that I have to LIVE what I teach, and I understand that neurodivergence can change the way you learn and experience the world. I founded GlitterBrain Psychology to make information and skills training more accessible for neurodivergent people www.GlitterBrainPsychology.com

I also support people experiencing anxiety, panic, phobias, health anxiety, social anxiety, low confidence, depression, bipolar disorder, anger difficulties, addictions and bereavement. I am trained in several treatment methods for trauma, including PTSD, complex trauma, and intergenerational trauma. I have particular expertise in supporting with female health struggles such as PMDD, vaginismus, perimenopause and menopause.

You do not need any formal diagnosis to access therapy. Being a human always comes with struggles and these are experienced differently by everyone. The most important thing is considering what recovery or building a better life would look like for you.
