Do I have to book a block of sessions up front?
Not usually. You are welcome to book single appointments if that feels best for you. Some people explore how they can get started in improving their quality of life and then take time to embed those changes before booking another appointment.
In some circumstances, Dr Em may consider it necessary to arrange a block of sessions in advance. For example, if someone wishes to explore trauma therapy, this cannot be safely offered in one-off or irregular appointments. Dr Em will be able to give some guidance on the frequency and number of sessions that might be appropriate following your assessment appointment(s). It should be noted that it is not possible to precisely predict this, as each individual responds differently to therapy, so a flexible approach is advisable.
How much do sessions cost?
Each session costs £140. Invoices are payable within 30 days, or before your next appointment, whichever is earlier. Payment is accepted via BACS transfer only.
Do you have to be referred by a GP or other Health Professional?
No. Dr Em accepts self-referrals. Referrals are also accepted from health or social care professionals if they have your consent to refer and share information about you.
What if I’m struggling in between appointments and need urgent support?
Dr Em cannot provide mental health or crisis support. A mental health crisis is an emergency so it is important to access support as soon as possible. Please contact your GP during working hours, or emergency services. If you are based in the UK you may wish to phone 111, the 24-hour NHS advice line, or The Samaritans: 116 123 (24hrs) who support people in crisis.
